This morning, Sam is pouting because we haven't gone for our walk yet. I keep telling him it's because it's just too cold and windy, but he keeps giving me that look. Dog people will know what I'm talking about.

Two days after Christmas last year, a Friday, I woke up with a sore throat. Over that weekend, it quickly became much more. By Sunday, I was coughing so much my sides hurt. The next morning — my 51st birthday — I woke up coughing and gasping for breath
