Books of 2023 Posted on Jan 1, 2024, 1:01 am
I hate making reading into a numbers game, but I do it anyway.
Movies 2023, again Posted on Dec 31, 2023, 6:12 am
A top three, or maybe four?
That new-car smell Posted on Dec 30, 2023, 9:12 pm
New car, new year, all that stuff.
Poor Things Posted on Dec 28, 2023, 5:12 am
A really crazy movie. Plus car-shopping and other plans for this week.
My October Daye obsession Posted on Dec 26, 2023, 3:12 am
The thing I'm obsessed with lately is, which character is going to turn out to be Queen Maeve in disguise?
A word-of-mouth book Posted on Dec 24, 2023, 12:12 am
Or, how I came to read Pillars of the Earth.
Work and holidays Posted on Dec 19, 2023, 9:12 pm
Schedules and Cheesecake Factory and a low-key Christmas
Wonka, etc. Posted on Dec 18, 2023, 8:12 pm
From Sunday, football and a very enjoyable movie!
Color Theory Posted on Dec 18, 2023, 12:12 am
Does everybody still get a few paper magazines, or is that just me?
The sick tag Posted on Dec 16, 2023, 10:12 pm
Reading about sicknesses past made me feel better.
The Ick Posted on Dec 16, 2023, 3:12 am
Oh c'mon, you know you want to hear about my symptoms, right?
The Spiderwick Chronicles Posted on Dec 13, 2023, 12:12 am
It's a movie, I know, but is it also a series?
Wonka and Golden Globes Posted on Dec 12, 2023, 4:12 am
And also Across the Spider-verse!
TV, and a movie addendum Posted on Dec 11, 2023, 12:12 am
TV stuff - Only Murders in the Building, Dr Who, and more, plus a movie I forgot about.
My movies 2023 Posted on Dec 10, 2023, 2:12 am
MY movies this time, not my husband's. (Although he was there for all of these too.)
A lot of horror Posted on Dec 9, 2023, 5:12 am
I don't do horror movies, in general, so these are the movies my husband went to see without me!
Movies 2023 Posted on Dec 8, 2023, 4:12 am
Mostly just a list, but I had to go through a lot of paging through my planner to get there!
Person of the year Posted on Dec 7, 2023, 6:12 am
Apparently I'm in Camp Taylor now.
Sugar Bowl bound Posted on Dec 5, 2023, 2:12 am
I said before that I didn't think Texas would get in the College Football Playoffs, and as I'm sure anybody who pays attention to college football knows already, I was entirely wrong.
Misc TV, no spoilers Posted on Dec 4, 2023, 12:12 am
In which I talk about Dr Who and technical issues and more.
Recovering Austinite Posted on Dec 2, 2023, 3:12 am
I can't make up my mind whether this is an entry about Austin stuff or about aging, so I guess you're gonna get some of both.
Holidailies time Posted on Dec 1, 2023, 3:12 am
Already talking about 80s music again! (The Eurythmics, in this case)
Happy reading! Posted on Dec 31, 2021, 7:12 pm
Happy New Year, y'all. 2021 wasn't a bad year for me personally, but it was a pretty bad year for the world in general, wasn't it? Insurrections, climate change, ugh. So let's hope 2022 is going to be an improvement. (I'm not really holding my breath for that, I'm afraid.)
Post-Christmas crankiness Posted on Dec 31, 2021, 2:12 am
Licorice Pizza, work, and more.
Christmas cards Posted on Dec 26, 2021, 3:12 am
Not the kind of Christmas cards you mail.
Christmas (Eve) Gifts Posted on Dec 25, 2021, 6:12 am
It's still Christmas Eve my time as I'm writing this, but it'll be Christmas Day by the time I post it, no doubt, so merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it - and I guess, happy Saturday to the rest of you!
Solstice, etc. Posted on Dec 21, 2021, 3:12 am
Somebody at work gave us both those holiday necklaces with the big blinking lights, so I draped them on the TV.
In a Holidaze Posted on Dec 20, 2021, 1:12 am
MOSTLY about reading and not about Spider-man.
Holiday romance Posted on Dec 18, 2021, 4:12 am
Lest you think I'm a sad, unromantic, Christmas-hating old lady, I will tell you that I was pretty much in tears yesterday due to a story I read involving a lonely teacher, an orphan, and a viscount, all discovering the magic of Christmas.
Marvel stuff Posted on Dec 16, 2021, 5:12 am
I'm not really managing the daily thing here, but at least I'm posting, right?
Soulmates Posted on Dec 14, 2021, 4:12 am
When we got married and merged our book collections, we each had matching paperback editions of Interview with the Vampire. That kind of thing is when you know you've found your soul-mate.
Weekend update Posted on Dec 13, 2021, 7:12 am
Encanto, not West Side Story, and Tex-Mex, not Chinese.
A half-remembered poem Posted on Dec 11, 2021, 10:12 pm
I had to stop reading to look up a poem. I knew most of it, but I couldn't have told you who wrote it or whether it was a poem in itself or what.
Family Matters Posted on Dec 11, 2021, 4:12 am
Their house in San Antonio went on the market, like, yesterday, and she said they already had an offer on it that was above the asking price.
A quiz! part 2 Posted on Dec 10, 2021, 3:12 am
Where have you lived throughout your life? and other burning questions.
2021 reading Posted on Dec 7, 2021, 5:12 am
I started a reading journal, and now I'm making lists.
Reading Material Posted on Dec 6, 2021, 12:12 am
The last Expanse book came out last week, and I had pre-ordered it so I already have it, but I haven't started it yet. I decided I need to read the two books before it first.
A quiz, part 1 Posted on Dec 5, 2021, 2:12 am
A quiz! A quiz! (I love these.)
At work Posted on Dec 4, 2021, 12:12 am
Some thoughts about shopping and traffic, etc., during a slow evening at work.
Sisterhood Posted on Dec 2, 2021, 4:12 am
The (rather rambling) story of how my sister now lives only 10 miles away from me.
Another movie update Posted on Dec 1, 2021, 3:12 am
I'm doing the easy thing today and talking about movies. (NOTE: link now working, yay!)
In which I actually make a resolution Posted on Jan 1, 2021, 11:01 pm
I don't usually do resolutions.
Movies of 2020 - the ones we saw and the ones we couldn't Posted on Dec 31, 2020, 6:12 am
We went to movies at two different theaters, and I never felt unsafe at all because it was a wasteland. Sometimes there was nobody else there at all, but if there were other people they were far away.
Reading (and a bit of a rant) Posted on Dec 29, 2020, 2:12 am
About what I'm reading, what I'm planning to read, and a thing that annoys me.
Bilbo and the gang Posted on Dec 27, 2020, 5:12 am
I went looking for my copy of The Hobbit and all I could find was my very ancient paperback copy - I read it for English class in, like, 1973 or 74 - cover price $1.50.
Merry Whatever Posted on Dec 25, 2020, 7:12 pm
Hope you're having a good day celebrating or staying in or whatever you're doing today! (And some chatter about a game.)
Eve Posted on Dec 25, 2020, 3:12 am
I had forgotten that While You were Sleeping is sort of a Christmas movie - basically in the Die Hard sense, where Christmas is just going on in the background but isn't really that integral to the plot.
The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special Posted on Dec 22, 2020, 9:12 am
Here's something that's not about The Mandalorian! (Still Star Wars, but hey, I gotta write about something!)
The Mandalorian and all those spin-offs Posted on Dec 21, 2020, 8:12 pm
I'm obsessed with The Mandalorian right now, have you noticed?
Mandalorian finale spoilerama (pt 2) Posted on Dec 20, 2020, 7:12 pm
To repeat, SPOILERS. (Do most people know about the big spoiler by now? I'm not taking any chances - if you don't know and you don't want to know, don't read this entry!)
Mandalorian finale spoilerama (pt 1) Posted on Dec 20, 2020, 1:12 am
A surprise appearance by [SPOILERS!] (Although that will actually be in part 2, anyway.)
The Believer: The Mandalorian Chapter 15 (spoilers!) Posted on Dec 18, 2020, 1:12 am
It was like a little bitty action movie, really, part Fury Road and part Inglourious Basterds (so I'm told).
The Great Conjunction Posted on Dec 17, 2020, 3:12 am
Cool astronomy stuff.
Santa, Baby Jesus, and Christmases Past Posted on Dec 14, 2020, 8:12 pm
I have sort of a fraught relationship with the holidays.
Pandemic Talk Posted on Dec 14, 2020, 1:12 am
On zumping and fried squid.
More Music Advent Posted on Dec 13, 2020, 12:12 am
I need to point out that I put the TS song in there before I knew anything about her new album coming out. We went on a big road trip the year that "22" was a big thing, so that's what I associate it with.
Jedi Overload, or something Posted on Dec 11, 2020, 2:12 am
Y'all, I had had a whole subject I was going to write about when I got home from work, and then I got home from work and found out that Disney bombed us with, I don't even know, TEN Star Wars series or something...
"The Tragedy" (spoilers!!) Posted on Dec 8, 2020, 8:12 am
With an episode name like that, you know what to expect, I guess. (I did have to explain to Rob who the weird scarred guy who wanted his armor back was!)
#musicadvent Posted on Dec 7, 2020, 11:12 pm
Do sad songs make you happy sometimes?
Not-quite-quarantine life Posted on Dec 6, 2020, 5:12 am
I kind of feel like I'm quarantining, more or less, but really I'm not, not entirely. We're "essential," we weren't given a choice, as far as work goes.
The Mandalorian season 2 (spoilers!) Posted on Dec 5, 2020, 2:12 am
Ahsoka and Bo-Katan and Din and Gorgu. Er, Grogu.
Book Report Posted on Dec 3, 2020, 3:12 am
Things I've been reading: sci-fi and fairies.
Happy! Posted on Dec 2, 2020, 4:12 pm
People look at planners and say, "Oh, you must be so organized!" But really I'm massively DISorganized and that's why I need a planner so much.
Testing... Posted on Dec 2, 2020, 1:12 am
Oh, hi, it works!
