Between an Alaskan storm pushing cold air ahead of it and the natural inclinations of the incipient winter season, temperatures in the area have finally dipped down into the chilly realm.

It's s busy time of year. Focus has been hard to come by of late, between heavy work responsibilities, preparing for the arrival of my fourth child, and trying to make sure we're partly holiday-ready a little head of time, because my older boys are heading off to visit their father for Christmas this year.

Even when things slow down on the road, the ribbons of light look pretty, winding up over the hills and down again, stretching out for miles, unintentionally festive.
