In which I am baffled by the popularity of a breakfast I ate weeks ago.

Free Lunch Posted on Dec 21, 12:12 am
In which get free food for doing nothing more than sitting in one place for a while. Granted, that place was several stories above the ground.

Slump Posted on Dec 20, 12:12 am
In which I resort to old school daily diary format.

Yak Emulation Posted on Dec 18, 11:12 pm
In which I do not fall on my butt.

Second Verse, Same as the First Posted on Dec 17, 10:12 pm
In which I fail spectacularly to reach a goal I set for this year.

In which I cover 1900+ miles in only 7 paragraphs and 5 photos.

Skol Vikings Posted on Dec 5, 11:12 pm
Unlike most parties that don't really get going until after the scheduled start time, this one apparently started strong before we got there and dwindled fast.

Sifting and Sorting Posted on Dec 4, 10:12 pm
Mom rarely saw a patterned fabric she didn't like, and she loved bright colors, so the donate pile looked quite festive.

Driving, Driving, Driving Posted on Dec 3, 9:12 pm
In which I journey from the state of Washington to Michigan and take a few photos along the way. (Oh, and I also enabled comments again. I am out of practice with this journal thing for sure.)

Pre-Trip Trip Posted on Dec 2, 1:12 pm
The crowd skewed male, so I generally had the ladies bathroom to myself when I went, which meant I could take photos with my pocket sock monkey without attracting any attention.

Another Ride on the Holidailies Train Posted on Dec 1, 1:12 pm
I'm not entirely sure how I'll manage a month of daily entries when I haven't done that since last December, but I did do it last December, so it is possible.

In which I do some actual crafting.

In which I stretch the definition of "made things" to suit my own purposes.

Irresolute Posted on Jan 1, 10:01 pm
I thought about jotting down some resolutions for the new year, but I just want to sit around and drink herbal tea and play Candy Crush.

2015 Photo Project Posted on Dec 31, 4:12 pm
Wrapping up my year in photos. Maybe you'd like to join me next year?

Icy Posted on Dec 30, 9:12 pm

Today's Molehill Posted on Dec 29, 12:12 am
Today's minor problem that my brain has latched onto and won't let go of: my favorite hiking socks are missing.

Lights of Winter Posted on Dec 28, 12:12 am
One nice thing about the long hours of darkness this time of year is it gives me ample opportunity to stare out the window at our Christmas lights.

The Force Awakens But I'm Tired Posted on Dec 27, 2:12 am
I saw the new Star Wars and did some other stuff, too. (No Spoilers)

All Is Calm Posted on Dec 25, 10:12 pm

Who Are You Calling a Western Stubby? Posted on Dec 23, 1:12 am
There are many adjustments I'll have to make living out west in a small town after having spent five decades in large metro areas in the Great Lakes region. Case in point: butter.

It's Beginning to Look a Little Like Christmas Posted on Dec 21, 11:12 pm
Mother Nature is putting on quite a show decorating for Christmas here, with over two feet of snow in the last week and more in the forecast for the next three days. Mr. Karen and I have been more restrained in our approach.

Night Skiing Posted on Dec 21, 1:12 am
Schweitzer has night skiing on most weekends and holidays but until yesterday, I'd never partaken, unless you count a last run of the day that just happens to occur after the lights get turned on, which I don't.

Modern Maturity Posted on Dec 19, 11:12 pm
There is ample evidence that Mr. Karen and I are grown ups, what with being retired and all, but there are also signs that we are not entirely mature.

It's Handy to Be Married to Someone Handy Posted on Dec 19, 12:12 am
A couple days ago it stopped making the odd noise, and just heated the clothes instead of drying them. My first thought: we'll need a new dryer. My second thought: we will never find a dryer to fit into that space.

Might As Well Fail Big Posted on Dec 17, 3:12 pm
A couple days ago, I noticed an entry called “Three Books Behind” in my prior years’ links, which inspired me to update my book log and Goodreads account to see how far behind I am this year. Answer: 45 books.

Six Tiny Reindeer Posted on Dec 16, 7:12 pm
The sixth, not pictured, is some inches from his mates, far enough away that I wonder if there used to be eight tiny reindeer and two have gone missing.

Ski Day 1 Posted on Dec 15, 8:12 pm
Mr. Karen and I did some skiing today, on our second full day here at our previous home away from home that's now our primary home I guess even though most of our stuff is still in Michigan.

It went like these ceremonies tend to until the conclusion, when the drumline from the marching band appeared with the Bobcat mascot and then balloons dropped from the ceiling of the fieldhouse.

And I Would Drive 716 Miles Posted on Dec 12, 2:12 am
In which I did not buy socks that said "free ice water" on them.

And We're Off Posted on Dec 11, 12:12 am
Consistent with our theme of downsizing, I only have two sock monkeys with me: original sock monkey and Sparty Monkey.

Cat Portraits are Hard Posted on Dec 9, 1:12 pm
I present a series called "Simon is a cat and thus does not care if you are trying to get a good photo of him".

Work, Dress, Boots, Sport, Sandals, Other Posted on Dec 8, 10:12 am
As much sorting and clearing and weeding out as we've done, there's still plenty of stuff to go through, and still stuff is surfacing that I'd forgotten all about, like this Shoe Inventory dated March 1, 1990, which I came across yesterday.

Well Here's a Twist Posted on Dec 7, 7:12 am
Instead of my anxious brain getting stuck in overdrive and making it hard for me to go to sleep at night, as is its wont, today it decided to wake me up early and keep me that way.

And Then There Was the Rest of November Posted on Dec 6, 8:12 pm
In which it snowed and was picturesque.

On Not Working Posted on Dec 5, 1:12 pm
Driving there and back, I was once again reminded how, while I don’t miss dealing with traffic, I do miss having nearly two hours every weekday when I was pretty much guaranteed not to have anyone else talk to me.

I took in as much fall color as I could, thinking this is quite possibly the last autumn I’ll spend in the midwest.

Not Dead Yet Posted on Dec 1, 12:12 am
This has been my least active year of online journaling since I started. Yet I still signed up for Holidailies, because it’s what I do around here.
